NPR Does Series on Housing

Posted August 13th, 2018

NPR is running a series of stories on affordable housing challenges across the country, with common themes including a construction labor shortage, rising costs of building materials, a shortage of undeveloped land, and an increasing amount of regulation that limits housing development.  The first story focuses on Boise, ID where demand is high and so are costs.  The second story focuses on Baltimore, MD where race plays a stark role in homeownership rates.  The third story takes on the issue of preserving affordable housing in rural areas and dealing with the labor shortages that crop up in those same areas.
